Quote of the Month

“When all is said and done, more is said than done.” – Lou Holtz

This quote highlights the often significant gap between intentions and actions. It serves as a reminder that while it is easy to discuss plans and make promises, executing those plans requires hard work and commitment. Frequently, we witness this disparity in the political realm, where promises made by politicians may not always translate into meaningful action, leaving constituents questioning the sincerity of those promises.

Fortunately, as cattlemen and women, we have steadfast allies in Tallahassee and Washington who understand and support our vital role in safeguarding the nation’s food security. Our representatives, senators, and commissioners recognize that we are responsible stewards of the precious resources that God has entrusted to us. They are committed to advocating for our industry’s needs and addressing any issues that could adversely impact the cattle and beef sectors.

The trust between cattlemen and our elected officials has not developed overnight. It has been built through consistent engagement and relationship-building over time. For years, cattlemen and women statewide have been actively participating in the FCA legislative quarterly meetings, where we communicate our concerns and priorities to our legislators. This year’s legislative quarterly was notably successful, as we witnessed a remarkable turnout of cattlemen and women advocating for our way of life.

While visiting our legislators is crucial, our support must extend beyond these interactions. As we ask our elected officials to champion our industry, it is equally important that we support them in their efforts to secure re-election. We should also back new candidates who are committed to advocating for agriculture to ensure the longevity and prosperity of our industry.

To help support this work, we launched the Fun N’ Gun event last year to raise funds for the Florida Cow PAC and the Florida Cattlemen’s Foundation. This year’s Fun N’ Gun will take place on March 7th at 5 p.m. at the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa. Tables are still available and sponsorship opportunities start at just $100. Last year’s inaugural event was a great success, with 32 tables sold and more than 300 people in attendance. This year, we’ve set an ambitious goal to sell more than 40 tables and welcome over 400 participants—and I’m proud to share that we’re already about three-quarters of the way there.

If you know individuals or companies interested in participating in this exciting event, and want to have a great time, please direct them to our website or contact the FCA office. You can also reach me at 352-427-0988 or Kevin Escobar at 813-629-8049.

Thank you for allowing me to serve this wonderful association.

Sincerely,

Rick Moyer
