For the Carlton family, caring for the land has never been separate from raising cattle. The two have gone hand in hand for generations, each carrying with it a responsibility to leave something worthwhile for those who come next. The family’s roots in Florida stretch back to the 1870s, beginning a ranching legacy that has now reached five generations. Bull Hammock Ranch became part of that story in 1947.

It sure is nice to be back in the sunshine state! Hi all, my name is Kate Shuffitt Ramsey. I am joining the Florida Cattlemen’s Association team as the Director of Membership and Strategic Partnerships. My husband and I recently moved back to Florida from Colorado. I worked with National Cattlemen’s Beef Association for the past four years and though I loved the snow I am genuinely happy to be home and near family!

The fall season signifies the beginning of my favorite time of year. After a brutally hot and uncharacteristically dry summer, nothing is more refreshing than that first cool morning. There are so many wonderful things I look forward to this time of year, one of those being the start of our normal calving season. There is nothing more rewarding than watching all those calves and their mothers do what they are supposed to do: grow BEEF.
