The Headquarters' Range: September 2026

As we put the finishing touches on the September issue, we are also closing another chapter in the history of The Florida Cattleman & Livestock Journal. This issue marks the completion of Volume 90, a milestone that represents nine decades of documenting Florida’s cattle industry, its people, and its progress.

For me personally, this issue also marks my first 12 editions of the magazine. While my first anniversary as editor will not officially arrive until next month, reaching the final issue of Volume 90 has given me an opportunity to reflect on the past year and the privilege of helping tell the stories of Florida’s cattle producers.

Over the past 12 months, I have had the opportunity to connect with cattle producers from across Florida through phone calls, emails, interviews and, more recently, visits to a few of their operations. Every issue has introduced me to new people, new perspectives and new stories that deserve to be shared. It has been a reminder that one of the magazine’s greatest privileges is preserving and sharing the stories of the people who make this industry so special.

One of the most rewarding parts of this first year has been hearing from so many of you. Whether you have stopped me at a quarterly meeting, sent a thoughtful email, or shared a kind word after receiving your magazine, your encouragement has meant more than you know. It is reassuring to hear that these stories, photos, and features resonate with our membership.

This year has also given us the opportunity to introduce new content, including our Keepers of His Land series. Inspired by President John Williamson’s theme, the series shines a light on ranches that demonstrate the stewardship, innovation and commitment that have long defined Florida cattle producers. While every operation is unique, each story reflects a shared commitment to caring for the land, the livestock and the generations that will follow.

As we look ahead to Volume 91, I hope the magazine continues to reflect the people and values that make Florida’s cattle industry so special. Whether we are covering research, legislative issues, association news, or stories from ranches across the state, our goal remains the same: to produce a publication that informs, connects, and celebrates the members of the Florida Cattlemen’s Association. Thank you to everyone who has trusted us to preserve your family’s history and showcase your operation. I am looking forward to the stories we will tell together in the year ahead.
