The fall season signifies the beginning of my favorite time of year. After a brutally hot and uncharacteristically dry summer, nothing is more refreshing than that first cool morning. There are so many wonderful things I look forward to this time of year, one of those being the start of our normal calving season. There is nothing more rewarding than watching all those calves and their mothers do what they are supposed to do: grow BEEF.

As we begin a new school year and our “free labor” returns to the classroom, we anticipate falls arrival. It has been a hot and busy summer for most of us with many pressing issues to be dealt with. I have greatly enjoyed working on your behalf these first few months as FCA president. With the political season upon us, I can not emphasize enough the importance of having politicians in place with Ag backgrounds, or at least those who understand our importance here in Florid

As I write my second article as your FCA President, I recognize that nothing truly prepares you for the complexities of our industry. Like most presidents, I started with a wish list and an agenda, but our focus quickly shifted to more pressing issues.

Hello everyone, I am John Williamson and I am honored to be your new Florida Cattlemen’s Association President for 2026/2027. For those of you that do not know me, I am a 4th generation cattleman and 7th generation Floridian from Okeechobee. I am blessed to work in our family operation, Williamson Cattle Company, alongside my father and sister. I have two sons, John Wesley and Brady, who are in college and represent the 5th generation.
