Our annual convention in Marco Island continues to deliver—this year was no exception. It was a memorable gathering, filled with fellowship, important business, and celebration. Congratulations to our award winners and our new FCA Sweetheart! A heartfelt thank you to our sponsors, allied members, and to Dusty Holley and the entire FCA staff for making it all possible. The memories created at this event are cherished by so many FCA families—and they happen because of you.
For those I haven’t yet met, I’m Rick Moyer, a first-generation cattleman, and I’m deeply honored to serve as your president this year. I didn’t come from a cattle background—but I’ve never wanted to do anything else. With no land, cattle, or resources, I had to find my own path. Thankfully, I was surrounded by good, salt-of-the-earth cattlemen and women who showed me the way.
Whether you’re a 1st-generation or 8th-generation producer, you’re part of the fabric of Florida’s cattle industry—and that’s something to be proud of. My wife Leslie and I are grateful for the chance to “lead the way” for our children, Taylor, Matti, and Jay; and we hope you’ll join us in doing the same for yours.
This year, I’m asking our members to Lead the Way in three important efforts:
Grow Membership
We’re aiming to increase FCA membership by 500. It’s an ambitious goal, but it’s within reach if each of us steps up. Don’t just invite someone to join—share with them why this association matters. Thanks to Tom Bryant, Dan Smith, and the entire membership committee, we’ve already built strong momentum. Let’s keep up the momentum President Carlton started!
Get Involved
As past president Bo Hobby once said: “Show up, stand up, and speak up.” Whether you run 20 head or 2,000, your voice matters. I know there are producers out there who care deeply about this industry but haven’t yet found a way to engage. My message to you is simple: you belong here. Join us at quarterly meetings and help shape the future of Florida cattle ranching.
Support Advocacy
Political engagement remains a critical part of protecting our way of life. With leaders like Jim Handley, Sam Ard, and Dusty Holley at the helm, we’ve fought hard for the rights of cattle producers across the state and nation. Fundraisers like the bull sale and our new FCA FUN N’ GUN event help us stay strong. Thank you to everyone who made the inaugural event such a success—especially the Mazak family for hosting. We’re already planning the second FUN N’ GUN for Spring 2026, we’ll announce the date and location soon!
Finally, I’m proud to announce a new partnership with Mind Your Melon, a group working to raise mental health awareness in agriculture. Thanks to your strong participation in their statewide survey, FCA is stepping up to help spread this important message. Learn more at mindyourmelon.org.
Thank you again for the privilege of serving as your president. I look forward to crossing paths with many of you in the coming year. Let’s work together, support one another, and continue to Lead the Way—for our families, our industry, and our future.
God bless,
Rick Moyer
