Happy December and Merry Christmas everyone!!
On October 4th and 5th, I headed over to Kissimmee for the third show of the JFCA Point Series. We had another great turn out, with many well deserved champions! Thank you to all the volunteers who make these events possible! Do not forget that the last show of the season will be December 6th-8th!
The UF/IFAS Range Cattle Research and Education Center Field Day took place in the end of October. This was a really exciting event because they officially launched their new “Mislevy” Bermudagrass! Joao Vendramini, Jose Dubeux Jr., and Estaban Rios, and Dr. Paul Mislevy all worked to make this bermudagrass cultivar possible! Aside from that, I also got to listen to scientific research being presented about fire management, beef cattle market trends, weed management, supplementing beef females, and pasture fertilization from the many amazing professors at the research center.
In the beginning of November, I attended the Savor St. Pete event which was really neat to see all the different restaurants and vendors sampling their products. The Florida Beef Council sampled beef sausage and new york strip steak that everyone raved over. The public loved the fact that actual Florida cattle ranchers were right behind our booth grilling the meat.
Christmas is only a few weeks away, and if you are like me, you are struggling trying to find gifts that people will love. Struggle no more! I have several gifts that any beef loving friend will enjoy! The first one is a beef roast with a bottle of your favorite rub. This is a favorite because who does not love getting food? There are also many great cookbooks out there for your friends who are always looking to try something new! Or are your friends the ones that like to spice things up? Give them a basket of rubs, marinades, and sauces! Get an assortment of grill accessories like tongs, spatulas, and brushes for those who are wanting to become a “grill master.” Everyone should own a meat thermometer to make sure everything is cooked to perfection! Lastly, steak knives! Everyone should have an awesome sharp set of steak knives that they can enjoy for years! Hopefully, these ideas can help make Christmas shopping a little less stressful!
Remember if you have any questions or have an event that you would like me to attend, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org!
Thank you and God Bless!
