ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
Presented in collaboration with the Florida Cattlemen’s Association, Lay of the Land explores Florida’s unique 500-year cattle industry through art and objects on loan from members of Cowboy Artist’s Association of Florida, Cowboy “craftsmen” from around the state, private collections, and the Seminole Tribe.

PRESENTATION: “FIVE CENTURIES OF FLORIDA CATTLEMEN HISTORY”
Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 7 p.m.
Folklorist and exhibiting artist Bob Stone will give an educational talk about the link between Florida’s history and its cattle culture, originating with Spanish settlement in the 1500s and continuing today. FLORIDA COWBOY HERITAGE DAY – FAMILY OPEN HOUSE

Celebrate Florida’s unique history with a fun-filled and educational day for the whole family. Activities include cattle culture arts and crafts demonstrations, historical presentations, cowboy poetry readings, live outdoor painting, and hands-on art activities for all ages. Join us for a special reception to close the Lay of the Land exhibition with entertainment by acclaimed poets from the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko, Nevada.
