FCW Report August 2019
What a great time we had at the FCA/FCW Annual Convention that was held at the beautiful location of Marco Island. It was so good to see all the cattle families in attendance and to be back home after several years away! All the events held were amazing and after a little rough weather to start off, the storms cleared out to make for a perfect week.
To get things started the FCW began our convention week with a very productive Executive Committee board meeting and luncheon, this is a great team of ladies that are very dedicated. That same Tuesday afternoon we were so excited as we kicked off the 2019 Convention with a packed house at our FCW Welcoming Reception that included an Ice Cream Sundae Bar and Fashion Show featuring Florida Cattle family Boutiques and models. We were also so honored to have Mrs. Millie Carlton Bolin of the Roman III Ranch as our wonderful MC!
I had the great opportunity to give a FCW report at the FCA Past Presidents/ Executive Committee Breakfast, and then moved into our FCW Membership Breakfast with an “Old Florida Theme” with palmettos, prickly pear cactus, and the Florida commodities of cane syrup, homemade Guava Jellies, and Orange marmalade on each table to sop our biscuits in!
At the FCW Breakfast we honored our Past Florida CowBelle Members that were in attendance and had them all come forward to be presented with a Red Ribbon tied CowBelle. It was such a joy to see them as they all giggled together and rang their CowBelles proudly! The morning was filled with recognitions of our FCW Past Presidents, past Outstanding CattleWomen, Presidents mentorship awards ,also several of the awards presented were the Rookie of the Year (Michele Curts) Outstanding Gator Collegiate (Kylie Phillips), also recognizing our newly crowned FCA Sweetheart (Casey Wingate), and our Senior and Junior Beef Ambassadors (Tara Holtzendorf and Molly Mckettrick).
Mrs. Vina Jean Banks as Committee chair spoke on the completion of both the “Florida Women in Ranching” video and the “FCW History Gallery Cabinet” along with sharing many facts about our Florida CowBelles/ CattleWomen history! The FCW will be announcing a future date for a ribbon cutting ceremony in Kissimmee. We also had a wonderful surprise as Mrs. Jennifer Houston the 2019 NCBA President joined the ladies with remarks, as well as our special guest the ANCW President Mrs. Wanda Pinnow and President-Elect Evelyn Greene.
At the Thursday night banquet we presented our FCW Membership Drive contest winners as 1st place Lake County sponsored by Ag Lending America, 2nd Place Seminole Indian by the Curts family, and 3rd Place Pasco County by Holloway Farms. A big congratulations goes out to Mrs. Becky Finley for winning the $700. cash drawing sponsored by FALM. We were also very proud to showcase the Florida Women in Ranching video to all in attendance at the banquet. Thank you to the FCW Video Committee and the UF video team for all the hard work and dedication that went into this historical video that will also be used for promotional and educational purposes. What an honor as Mr. Clint Raulerson wrote a wonderful CowWoman poem the following week titled “Momma”, after he was inspired from the video presentation on Thursday night.
The FCW proudly Presented a special Award of the “FCW CowBelle Award” to (Mrs. MaryAnne Glaese), one of the most dedicated and devoted ladies to our Florida CattleWomen and Cattlemens Association, MaryAnne was presented with a beautiful inscribed crystal vase filled with beautiful Red flowers.
Without the generosity and support of our FCW Sponsors the FCW convention events would not have been possible, also a big thank you to Mr. Ron O’Conner photography for Photos, and on behalf of the FCW we thank all our members for attending and making this year an amazing time!
