JFCA September Message

Hello everyone!

I am very sad to announce that this is my last article as your JFCA President but I am very excited to say that I have met the upcoming officer team and I know that the JFCA is in very good hands. Two major events have happened since the last time I wrote, the FCA Convention and the 2017 JFCA Point Series Kick-off Show.

The FCA Convention was full of sun, laughter, cattlemen, cattlewomen, and junior cattlemen. Our two new competitions, Jr. Quiz Bowl and the Stockman’s Quiz, were a huge success with 9 Jr. Quiz Bowl Teams and over 50 Stockman’s Quiz contestants. There were also 9 Senior Quiz Bowl Teams, 4 Team Marketing Teams, and a great turn out for Speeches.

The Point Series Kick-off Show was another major success although being named “The Hottest Show on Earth.” With over 400 cattle entered and two rings running at the same time, it was epic. We would like to thank everyone for coming out and a special thank you to our sponsors, Purina, AG 98, Weeping Creek Ranches, Everglades, Guaranty Security Equipment, Twisted Fitterz, and many more. We would also like to thank everyone who volunteered your time, the people who helped line up classes, the people who helped in the announcer booth, and so many other people. During this packed show weekend, we also had our 2016 Awards Dinner, a livestock judging contest, a fitting and grooming contest, and a photography contest. As well as elections for our 2017-2018 JFCA Officer team and our 2017-2018 Beef Ambassadors. If you were unable to attend this show I strongly recommend that you attend the rest of the point series this year!

I would like to take this moment to thank my parents, Gene and Tamara, for traveling with me all over the state. Thank you to Stephanie Conrad, A.K.A. FeFe, for being mine and the teams’ second mom. Thank you to Christine Damron, A.K.A. Teen, for your guidance and keeping us organized. Lastly, thank you JFCA and the FCA for helping me grow as a person and giving me so many new opportunities.

I am currently a student at Warner University in Lake Wales where I will be receiving my Bachelors Degree in Ag Studies. I am so excited to be attending such an amazing school close to home so I will still be able to attend all the JFCA shows and help with the Junior Cattlemen’s Association.

Thank you,
Casey Wingate
JFCA Past President
