Sept. FCW Report
Since the Convention in June the FCW have been planning and gearing up for the second half of 2019 with lots of great events ahead! With my calendar filled with activities each month, I wanted to share the upcoming events in hopes of seeing so many of our FCW/County CattleWomen members join us.
The FCW held the 2019 Beef Ambassador Contest at the Florida State Fair Grounds in August. What a wonderful group of young folks that were all ready to represent our industry proudly and Congratulations to all that attended. We are very proud of our FCW Committee chairman Mrs. Tami Newsome, as she does a wonderful job with this program. The 2019/2020 Sr Beef Ambassador is Molly McKetterick from Desoto County, the Intermediate Beef Ambassador is Hunter Williams from Union County, and the Jr Beef Ambassador is Ethan John from Pasco County. Also, we would like to thank Tara Holtzendorf for her year of service, as she did a great job representing the FCW!
We have our 12th Annual FCA Ranch Rodeo State Finals coming up September 27th and 28th in Kissimmee. This will be a great time for all, and I encourage everyone to bring your family. The FCW will be working the concession booth again this year with volunteers from various County CattleWomen Organizations from across our state.
We are excited to be partnering with the Junior League of Tampa’s Holiday Gift Market to be held on November 7th thru the 10th, at the Florida State Fair Grounds Expo Hall. The FCW will once again be focusing on the Tampa Bay Area and Urban community as a target market for BEEF Promotions. We will be handing out the recipe cards of our BEEF recipe samples, along with just sharing our story of who we are as the families behind the BEEF! They love hearing from Ranching families about the history, the love of the land, and how important it is to us to provide them with the Beef they feed their families. We will also be sharing our new “Florida Women in Ranching” video to help share our story to those attending and visiting our FCW Booth.
We are double timing as the same weekend as the Holiday Gift Market, we are also sponsoring a booth at the Savage Race to hand out BEEF samples and promotional and educational materials to the registrants of the Fall Savage Race on November 9th and 10th, 2019. This is a target audience of heath conscious athletes, so we want to share how important the Protein “BEEF” is to their diet! We will also be promoting “Chuck Knows Beef” and how to use on their Alexa while cooking a great meal.
I encourage all CattleWomen members to start preparing now for the Fall Ag Literacy Days, the official date will be announced soon. Please contact your local schools as an individual CattleWomen or with a group of your county CattleWomen members, to get into your local school classrooms and lets share our story about BEEF and who we are as the Ranch families behind the BEEF.
Anytime is a good time to read to children and share our story about BEEF and our Florida Ranch life. We still have dates available for FCW members to read at the Glaziers Children’s Museum in Tampa at the FARM/Ranch Booth our FCW has partnered with.
I had the pleasure of attending the ANCW Summer Business Meeting and Conference that was held in Denver, Colorado on the last week of July. There were several of the Florida CattleWomen in attendance and had a great time of fellowship and discussions with CattleWoman from all across our Nation, all with the same goals in mind for their cattle and the promotion of BEEF.
Several other events we have lined up are our Executive Board Retreat to be held in August and also the FCW BEEF Short Course 2019 will be held at the Sumter Livestock Market on September 21st, with lots of activities and fellowship planned for the day. We also had a great group of ladies from our Executive Board and Committees attend the NCBA Issues Management Workshop held in Kissimmee to focus on current issues we face in our industry.
Look for the upcoming date to be announced for the ribbon cutting ceremony of the beautiful FCW/CowBelles Historical Gallery Cabinet that is currently located at the FCA office in Kissimmee, Fl. The cabinet will be filled with wonderful historical CowBelle/ FCW items from our foundation cattle ladies to be shared for many years to come!
I am so excited about our upcoming September 12th and 13th Quarterly 2019 as it will be hosted in my home county of Hillsborough, so please mark your calendar to attend the steak-out supper as it will be out at my place (Southern Grace). It will be a great time with some good Southern Hospitality!
