July FCW Report

Wow, what a month!  If you went to Marco for the FCA convention I know that you had a good time.  The Marco Island Marriott loves to see us and I have been told that we are one of their favorite groups.  Kudos to Wes and Darren Williamson for the wonderful menu choices and to the Marriott for serving them so well!

We CattleWomen had a lot to discuss and many decisions to make.  I hope that you came to the Ice Cream Social, the General Membership meeting and to the Membership Breakfast.  What did you think about the breakfast starting at eight instead of seven?  I’d love to get some feedback so please drop me a note and let me know your thoughts about the breakfast or any other issue.

As summer sizzles lazily by, we have many things to be thankful for.  I was reminded yesterday that everything we do matters, no matter how big or small, and that we shouldn’t get caught up in the whirlwind of anxiety that sometimes comes with events in our lives.  As we go and promote our industry we should always remember that we do what we do because we love it, not because we have to.  We have been given so many opportunities to spread the word about our story of beef…why we do it, how we do it and why we want to leave a legacy for our children.  I cannot imagine living any other way!

We are currently working with the American National CattleWomen on the Sam’s Club Project and are partnering with them this year for the Southern Women’s Show in Orlando in October.  I am so excited to have the ladies that were involved in the National Beef Cook-Off working with us!  In case you don’t know about the Sam’s Club Project, ANCW partnered with Sam’s Club to provide CattleWomen to speak to customers while Sam’s Club workers prepare a beef recipe for them to sample. It is the best kind of demo…all you have to do is smile and talk about beef!   How easy is that!  We here in Florida have committed to at least 20 days of meeting and greeting customers and sharing our love of beef and our personal beef stories.  There is no doubt, we Florida ladies are committed to spreading the word about the great nutritional value of beef and the ease in which you can serve it at any time of the day!

I’m so looking forward to July and my new grandbaby that is due to arrive.  It is my first grandchild and everyone has told me that it will change my life forever.  So goodbye for now and the next time I talk with you I will be a grandmother!  I’m so excited!
