December FCW Report

Well what a month this has been as the FCW took on two major BEEF Promotions in the same week, but we knew we could pull it off and that we did! Starting on a Wednesday we began to set up our FCW Booth at the Junior League of Tampa Bay Holiday Gift Market and going on the other side of the Fair Grounds was the Hillsborough County Ag Ventures where we found Molly McKettrick our Florida Beef Ambassador teaching 3rd graders about Beef. Beef was definitely going to be the buzz word in Tampa Bay!

On Thursday afternoon at the Holiday Market we had a wonderful VIP Preview Party where several of the CattleWomen dressed up and served holiday bites of a Beef Crostini topped with a Parmesan crisp.

On Friday morning I was extremely humbled as I was ask as the President of the Florida CattleWomen to Cut the Ribbon at the Official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Holiday Gift Market, what an honor this was! Funny little side story, the scissors were a little dull but I was persistent and stayed with it until they cut through, I began to wonder what they would have thought if I had ask for a pocket knife? Everyone had a big laugh, so much fun with these JLT ladies.

On Friday we were also amazed at the amount of people that we talked to and answered many questions from how to cook beef short ribs to what are the different choices in ground beef? All while continuing to hand out large amounts of literature and Beef Samples. The attendees loved “Clyde the Bull” where they could take a photo and hashtag #Imetaranchertoday!

Saturday was another amazing day as we served our “Mango Tango Tacos!” We then had a big surprise visit at our booth by the Mayor of Tampa, Mrs. Jane Castor in a live broadcast. The FCW then presented her with one of our “Beef its what’s for Dinner” bags filled with a “Chuck knows Beef” apron and several Beef recipes! We also gave her an “I met a Rancher Today!” Sticker, which she wore proudly and mentioned later in another interview about getting to meet the FCW ranchers- We definitely made strides about Beef in Tampa!

Sunday was our final day at the HGM and the FCW Executive Board helped to close out the week, as we served our “Momma Holly Steak Bites” a family recipe of our FCW Secretary Mrs. Holly Newsome, and everyone just loved them.
The FCW also had an amazing weekend at the Savage Race held at the Little Everglades Ranch in Dade City, FL. where we were able to promote the importance of protein in an athletes diet. A great turnout and outreach. On behalf of the FCW A big Thank you goes out to Beth Hunt, Reyna Hallworth, and Casie Holloway for the dedication in helping me to make these events a big success. Thank You to all the FCW members who worked so diligently to make both events successful!

We will be delivering the Hope Children’s Home Gifts and Beef Certificates on December 9th at 10:00am. Also Please join us and become a sponsor for our Annual FCW Fun Shoot on January 4, 2020 at the Quail Creek Plantation in Okeechobee, FL. If you have any questions please contact for information.

As the December Quarterly is getting closer, we are nearing my final days as your 2019 FCW President, I look forward to sharing with everyone my year in review and hope I have served our cattle industry well.

Debbie Gill
FCW President
