Sweetheart’s October Message
Happy October! Hopefully the fall brings cooler weather and warm spirits to your home!
Wow! What a month it has been. September brought much excitement and lots of activities to all of us, and I couldn’t be happier with how this month has gone. I have had such an amazing time representing the industry with all of the cattlemen and cattlewomen members and sharing the beef story with an array of people through the Southern Women’s Show in Orlando with the amazing women of FCW.
I would also like to give a big thank you to everyone who participated and helped with Ranch Rodeo Finals. This month has been a great time for us to come together as a community to share perspectives on issues and our industry. One question that I have asked myself a lot recently is: how can I help efforts building a foundation for the future of our beef community?
This month, I hope to be able to focus on outreach to a younger community. My intent is to become involved in efforts around the University of Florida and the state to connect organizations to promote agriculture and the beef community. I not only want to target younger generations than myself but also my peers. It is my belief that collegiate students and post-graduates are a widely missed age to promote beef, which is a generations that is becoming increasingly influential. I am constantly reminded of this as I see my peers building families while still holding on to diets and ideals that they formed in college, such as not eating meat. I would like to change the perspectives and correct common misinformation about the industry by putting out positive messages and sharing successes and stories of those in our industry. I hope to be able to continue talking to each of you about your personal beef stories and the successes in your business and/or improvements you have made to better our industry.
