It’s finally my favorite time of year; cool weather, crisp air, it’s finally fall! This past month, I had an awesome time at the Cowboy Heritage Festival & Ranch Rodeo Finals. From popping whips to digging into some delicious smoked brisket and then watching the cowboys and cowgirls show off their skills, this was a weekend I will never forget.

Being able to showcase our heritage and share our story with the community is always fun! I loved visiting with people and explaining to them how Florida’s cattle industry has roots that run all the way back to Ponce de Leon. After all, he was the one who first brought cattle to the America’s in 1521!

A lot has changed since then, but the importance of being able to pass down our ranches to future generations remains strong. When people in the community come to the Cowboy Heritage Festival & Ranch Rodeo, I think that they understand our passion & love for the industry because they are able to see first hand, what we do, & how we do it.

As my year continues, I look forward to learning more & more about our industry. If you have an event you would like me to attend, please feel free to email me at sjdailey@ufl.edu or give me a call at 352-615-3060. Thank you all for the support and I look forward to seeing what the future holds!
