November Sweetheart Message
September has been my favorite Sweetheart month so far! I was lucky to be able to attend two exciting events! On September 22nd The Florida CattleWomen’s Association held a Beef Short course. It was held at a beautiful venue and was overflowing with fun ladies and good food! I don’t know what could be better! Each individual county in attendance put together a team with two of the members having to cook a meal with specific ingredients in 40 minutes. Then their food was given to a panel of 3 judges. While I was partial to rooting for my Mom, and Misty Matthews who represented my own Highlands County, the winning team ended up being two ladies near and dear to my heart, Nicole and Delanie Bartell.
The next weekend, on September 28th and 29th, I took my horse to the 2018 Ranch Rodeo Finals at the Silver Spurs arena. This was an eventful weekend. I was going non-stop, and couldn’t have enjoyed it more. On Saturday morning, I had the pleasure of attending, and announcing the Whip popping contest. This was a spin on the Florida cracker heritage that was shown by adults and kids as young as 7! Both Friday, and Saturday, I was asked to carry the flag during the national anthem. This was something that I had done with my horse before, however, on Friday night my horse decided to take me for my own bucking bronc ride! I now have a whole new respect for the actual bronc riders. This weekend, and rodeo, meant a lot to our State of Florida’s ranching and cultural heritage. It was a fun, clean way for the public to witness some very fun and thrilling aspects of every day ranching.
If you would like for me to make a visit your ranch let me know! I am also looking for opportunities to speak and give my presentation to help teach people to incorporate beef into their diets as a way to invest in their health.
