Florida Ranch Rodeo & Cowboy Heritage Festival

Ranch Rodeo Events

You may have been to a rodeo before, but you have probably never seen this type of cowboy action in the arena.  The Ranch Rodeo Finals competition is based on events which mirror actual day to day operations on cattle ranches across Florida.

Ranch Rodeos have been taking place throughout Florida for over 60 years. Many of these events occur in small communities where working cowboys and cowgirls meet up to compete and demonstrate skills that they use in everyday cattle ranching operations. Most of these rodeos receive little public exposure or attendance.

Ranch Rodeo events combine roping, horsemanship and ground work skills to recreate actual ranch work. The equipment and tack used by the contestants is identical to what is used by cowboys and cowgirls on a working ranch. A Ranch Rodeo is a team sport where up to five individuals, four men and one woman, compete together.

The following events will be presented at most of the regional qualifying rodeos and all of these events will occur at the Ranch Rodeo Finals competition:

  • Bronc Riding
  • Calf Branding
  • Team Sorting
  • Wild Cow Milking
  • Relay Race
  • Team Doctoring
  • Colt Riding
  • Double Mugging
