Feb. FCW Report
Hello Florida CattleWomen,
As we head into the new year, with new and exciting ideals for the 2019 year. I can’t help but feel the excitement of great things yet to come for the Florida CattleWomen! The planning stages have begun and are underway for the FCA/FCW State convention at Marco Island in June. After several years of being away from Marco, everyone is anxiously awaiting to not only be back at the island, but to see all the new changes, it will be a great to be back!
On the ranch side, this past month we’ve been busy with calf’s, lots of rain, trees on the fences, and I’ve throughly enjoyed our precious grandkids riding with us while being out for Christmas break. These are the moments it’s all about!
I’m off to New Orleans at the end of this month for the NCBA Convention, there are some exciting events, meetings, and Ranch tours planned with ANCW at this years convention. The FCW are excited to join the ANCW with their “WIRED” event in Gainesville on April 5th and 6th at UF. It will be great learning, fellowship and a fun experience. We are also currently in the planning stages as a sponsor for the spring 2019 Savage Race to be held on March 17th and 18th in Dade City. We will be sharing our message and Beef samples with the participants of the race. The FCW are very excited to have partnered with the Glaziers Children’s Museum in the new Farm exhibit, this will give the FCW an opportunity to promote and educate school age children about where Beef comes from before the grocery store.
We absolutely could not have ask for any better weather for our 2019 FCW Fun Shoot held at the beautiful Quail Creek Plantation in Okeechobee, Fl. We had an amazing turnout of wonderful shooters that all had a great time competing throughout the day. The FCW were truly blessed this year with some of the finest companies, organizations, and individuals that supported us with the sponsorship of station signs, sign sponsorship levels, gun donations, and raffle items. A big thank you goes out to all the volunteers and sponsors that made a great event possible for FCW! We were so incredibly honored to have shooter teams that consisted of the wounded warriors, youth teams, women’s teams, cowboy teams, and more.. The steaks were amazing and prepared by some of the finest cooks, the potato casserole was the best, the finest Southern sweet tea, and did I mention desserts! Banana pudding and homemade pies, what more could we have ask for? A thank you to(Dennis Corrick, of the Dean Mead Agribusiness Industry Team), whom I rangled into being our FCW photographer for the day. (Please see photos and results included on page 94) FCW will be proudly sharing our fun shoot sponsors in the upcoming edition.
And as promised, because I absolutely love the history of our Florida CattleWomen, I have included a history photo of one of our Florida Ranching Women!
