Oct. Jr. Trail

I just want to say that I hope you all had a great time at the Ranch Rodeo and Heritage Festival, because I know I did! It was truly a successful event and I want to say a big THANK YOU to the Cattlemen’s Foundation, Mr.  & Mrs. Hobby and the entire committee that helps plan, direct and operate the event. You all do a fantastic job and the JFCA truly appreciates your hard work & effort!! I also want to THANK all the JFCA members, leaders & volunteers that helped us operate the concession stand on Saturday night, during the Ranch Rodeo. You all did a great job and the officers sure do appreciate your commitment to help out! I’ll be honest…I already cannot wait until next year!!!

In this article I decided to do something different. I would like to tell you a story about one of the most fun and beneficial trips I’ve had the chance to go on, while being involved in the JFCA. This past June after the annual Cattlemen’s Convention I got the opportunity to travel to Johnson and Wales University in Miami with Ashley Hughes (our amazing Florida Beef Council Director of Marketing & Promotions) as she, and 2 chefs from NCBA, presented to Culinary Pro Start Teachers about beef and different beef cooking methods. It was great to watch her do what she does best, showing each and every one of those teachers how important the beef industry is to producers and consumers and also how important beef is to their classrooms. I was excited because I even got to help out a little and was the slideshow clicker!

Seeing how happy Ashley was while presenting this material really showed me how dedicated our advocates are in spreading the word about beef. While there I was blessed to be able to take in some local sites, try some new food and just enjoy the opportunity I had to spend it with someone I have grown to look up to. I would like to say thank you again to Ashley for allowing me this opportunity and for all you do for our Association!

So now that I have told you one of my BEEF stories, I want you to do the same for me. I want all you junior members to email me a story of your favorite memory from being a part of this amazing Organization and then I will chose my favorite to be included in my December article. You have until October 31st to send me your story, so get to writing!

Thank you all for the opportunity to serve as the JFCA President! God Bless!

Anna Conrad
JFCA President
