Overview

The Florida Cattlemen's Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) corporation founded in 1999, is dedicated to the preservation of the history, heritage and ideals of Florida cattlemen and to the enhancement of beef production and marketing practices for future generations.

 

The Foundation's support of education, research, and facilitation of leadership programs will ensure and enhance the Florida beef industry. It will keep the rich heritage of cattle ranching viable and progressive in the years and generations to come through a variety of methods:

Heritage

Florida Cattle Ranching: Five Centuries of Tradition

A traveling exhibit featuring the history and culture of the Florida Cattle Industry

The Florida Ranch Rodeo and Cowboy Heritage Festival

An annual event and fundraiser for the foundation which brings rodeo competition from county and ranch affiliates together with a large festival of Florida ranch traditions form handicrafts to storytelling, to beef cooking and Seminole Indian exhibits.

Florida Cowboys; Keepers of the Last Frontier

This book and calendar are prepared by nationally acclaimed photography Carlton Ward, Jr., a member of one of Florida's oldest ranching families.

Cowboy Artists

The foundation supports and art show and sale by leading artists each at the annual convention and trade show in Marco, Florida.

Research

University of Florida: IFAS

Research on livestock and forage production as well as the enhancement of natural resources linked to grazing landscapes
