Sept. FCW Report
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month. Each day, 46 children are diagnosed with cancer. Yet, only 4% of the National Cancer Institute budget is dedicated to pediatric cancer. On its face, this all has very little to do with the mission of our organization. However, we are an industry of people who care deeply about faith, family, and community. The late Don Plagge described these traits as part of the keynotes on which our great country was built. If it is on your heart, please “go gold” this month to bring awareness to pediatric cancer, and with it, funding for research and a cure.
September Promotion Ideas
September is also National Breakfast Month. With kids returning to school, moms want easy, protein rich morning meals to get everyone off to a great start. Visit www.beefitswhatsfordinner.com for some family friendly breakfast recipes, like the Beef and Cream Cheese Bagelwich, and Beef Sausage & Egg Muffin Cups. According to a July 2015 Pew Research study, 83% of moms say they use social media to get useful information. So, share these recipes or your own creations on social media with the hashtags #beefforbreakfast and #powerupwithprotein. Product demonstrations remain an effective marketing tool. Is your county interested in conducting a live demo? The FCW has a budget to help buy product, and resources for your event! Just shoot me an email; I’m glad to help.
Coming up soon:
Schools across Florida will host guest speakers during the month of November for the Great American Teach-In. This is an excellent opportunity to tell the Beef Story to a generation who is vastly removed from agriculture. A picture slide show is a simple, but effective, tool to promote an image that is far more accurate than the “factory farm” kids see and hear so much of. Contact your local district, as some may require an application and approval process this month.
Don’t forget: it’s not too late to participate in the Know Your Beef Short Course drawing for a free iPad! Just complete the new and improved Master of Beef Advocacy 2.0 training on or before November 30 to be entered to win. Visit beef.org to enroll. The drawing will be held at the December Quarterly. Contact Beth Hunt for questions and additional information.
