October FCW Report

Due to hurricane President Grimmer could not provide her monthly message therefore this supplement is provided by Jim Handley
Due to storm Irma the September Quarterly meeting of the Florida Cattle women Inc. had to be canceled. We hope and pray that at the time you read this everyone is safe and has not suffered harm or loss from this major storm. The canceling of the Quarterly was a disappointment to us all and I know President Grimmer was really looking forward to the meeting being hosted by her home County members of Hillsborough Cattlemen and Women.
This being our October issue by the time you see it the 10th Annual Florida Ranch Rodeo and Cowboy Heritage Festival will be in the books. FCW has been a huge part of this annual event with support thru excellent volunteers seeing that the concession stands headed up by Sarah Childs and Emily Hobby run smoothly   and efficiently.
The Florida Cattle women continue to do their excellent work in promoting beef consumption and educating consumers on the positive enjoyable wholesome nutritious qualities of beef. They have a major event upcoming in early November and invite everyone to come join in the fun as participant, spectator or volunteer as they work to promote beef. The “Savage Race” is a walk-run event conducted at Little Everglades ranch in the Dade City area. This event will draw thousands of athletes to compete and enjoy a run on this beautiful ranch. FCW as a major sponsor will be there cooking and providing tasty beef samples and distributing information to spectators and athletes educating them on how to utilize beef as a fuel for exercise and athletic competition. They welcome anyone willing to help . The date is Saturday and Sunday November 11 & 12, 2017. Please email: cgshowcattle@gmail.com or 813-478-1668 to contact Michelle Grimmer if you are interested and available.
The FCW Executive team of ladies met on Friday August 27 and Saturday August 28 at the FFA Conference Center. This retreat-planning meeting was designed for them to review their activities thus far this year, analyze their budget and to plan for last portion of 2017 and set plans for 2018. This outstanding group of cattle women are dedicated to serving the beef industry and take their role very seriously in promoting beef in Florida. FCW will continue to work as a contractor on various projects for the Florida Beef Council and will submit authorization requests for funding to the Council at the year -end meeting of the beef council in December. The Council will review FCW plans and vote on the projects the cattle women will execute in 2018.
Also please remember the annual FCW Christmas fund drive that the Cattle women conduct in November and December that will culminate at the year-end Quarterly set for November 30 and December 1 in Gainesville. IN the last 5-6 years FCW has focused their efforts to raise funds and gift donations for the The Hope home in the Tampa area. It is a wonderful home for Children that have not families or place to live. Through the work of FCW each chinld gets some gifts for Christmas and the cattle women also raise funds to give beef certificates to the Hope Home so they can serve beef all year long to these very needy children and insure they have high quality all important protein in their diet. Please think about this effort to help others and step up and make a contribution of funds or gifts to  this very worthy cause managed by the Florida Cattle women.
In closing FCW wants to invite everyone to gather a team and plan to come to their annual Sporting Clay fun shoot fund raiser. It is a great event and will be held at the world class shooting sports facility, Quail Creek Plantation in Okeechobee. This operation is professionally managed by FCA and FCW member the husband wife team of Fred & Maria Fanizzi, along with their son Joe and an outstanding hospitable staff. This crew knows how to welcome folks and show them to a good time, showcase their shooting skills and raise funds for the Florida Cattle Women. The day includes the shoot that pays off with many excellent awards and provides a wonderful BBQ beef lunch for all participants.
