June FCW Report

I was recently reminded of the John Maxwell quote: “Change is inevitable, growth is optional.”  How is FCW growing to keep beef promotion and education efforts relevant in our ever-changing society?  We as members have changed, too.  What growth needs to occur for the association to meet the needs of the membership?

The 2015 Annual Convention theme is Circle the Herd.  I look forward to seeing you in ChampionsGate on June 16-18 to get around this herd of challenges, and shape the future of our association.  I’m so excited to be at the Omni this year; the meeting spaces and amenities are fantastic, and the Convention Committee has planned a program packed with fun and excitement.  It is certain to be a worthwhile and enjoyable experience.

June Promotion Ideas
Beef for Father’s Day is, of course, the big one this month.  The ANCW toolkit (available at www.ancw.org) has some excellent suggestions.  Some require much more planning than is feasible at this point.  However, one do-able suggestion is to simply write a letter to your local meat manager to request that beef is promoted on Father’s Day.  Another idea is a barbeque demonstration at a hardware store or lawn-and-garden center.  Visit www.beefitswhatsfordinner.com for some Dad-worthy ‘Man Food’ recipes to pin, share, tweet, or what-have-you.

Remember, also, that July is National Grilling Month and Independence Day is fast approaching; some of the Father’s Day toolkit suggestions can be modified to fit nicely.  If you are setting your eyes toward the future, now is a great time to start planning a back to school promotion.   The FCW is happy to provide educational and promotional items – just let us know how we can help!
