Feb. FCW Report

FCW President Michelle Grimmer

FCW President Michelle Grimmer

Well….cooler weather finally came during the month of January – while it was intermittent, the cooler days were nice when we had them. The FCW Clay Shoot was held January 14th and we appreciate all those who attended and came out to support our fundraiser. As I draft this article, I am excited to be packing up to head to the ANCW Meetings at NCBA Convention in Nashville! Expect to see updates about both these events in next month’s article.

In addition to the articles published in this journal every month, did you know that there are several opportunities for you to keep up to date with the happenings in FCW throughout the year? Listed below are several ways for you to be “in the know” about what’s going on in FCW:

Quarterly Meetings
FCW meets quarterly to conduct business for our organization. The Board of Director’s meetings are not closed meetings and I encourage our membership to join these meetings when you have an opportunity, especially if they are going to be held in your area. Information for each quarterly meeting are posted on the FCA website including the dates and location for the meetings.

Mark your calendar now to attend the Legislative Quarterly, which will be held March 13 – 15 in Tallahassee. The primary focus of this meeting is for Cattlemen and Cattlewomen to meet personally with every State Senator and Representative to discuss issues in legislation and have a direct or indirect effect on our industry. This year we have a new host hotel – the new Headquarters hotel is the Hilton Garden Inn and you can make reservations by calling (850) 893-8300. Call before February 26th to ensure that you receive the Cattlemen’s Rate.

Facebook Page
Have you “liked” the Florida Cattlewomen Facebook page? A plethora of information is shared via this social media app and you can access it via your computer or phone. Looking for a great beef recipe? Curious as to how you can help at events? Want to get more involved in the organization? We are constantly posting items to share with our membership and encourage our membership to share the recipes and nutritional information on their own pages to help promote beef.

Website
I am in the process of updating the information provided on our website. You will soon be able to access things like the current listing and contact information for various Committee Chairs, Executive Board members and Board of Directors. We also utilize the website to post scholarship information, registration and sponsorship forms for our events, and general information about our organization. If you have a suggestion for other information you would like to see on our website, please give me a call or email me and I will see what I can do to accommodate the request.

ENews
Another way we disseminate information to our members is through our e-Newsletters. These are sent out via email. If you’re not currently receiving these and would like to, be sure to send your contact information and email address to FloridaCattlewomen@gmail.com and we will be sure you are added for future mailings! As always, I would love to come visit your county events and meetings – just shoot me and email at CGShowCattle@gmail.com or give me a call at (813) 478-1668 and I’ll be happy to mark it on my calendar!
