FCW Report

It’s June!  That means convention time!!  I hope everyone is as excited about our convention as I am!  We have been planning several events for the FCW Membership at convention and I encourage all CattleWomen to schedule the following events into their plans during convention:
As you prepare for convention, please be sure that your FCW dues are current so that you can be eligible to vote on items at meetings and receive gifts/door prizes at our events.  A few of the important items on the agenda for our General Membership Meeting on Wednesday morning is to review and vote on proposed changes to our Governing Documents (sent out to all members via email for review in early May), vote on a slate of proposed officers for the 2018 Executive Board, and the ANCW President will be updating us about items going on in the organization at the national level.  All members are encouraged to attend this important meeting.

Michelle Curts (FCW Parliamentarian), Caroline Nichols (Jan Dillard Scholarship Receipient), and Rhonda Waters (FCW President-Elect) at the UF Animal Sciences Awards program.

Don’t forget to bring your scrapbooks and show off what your county has accomplished this year!  Another reminder item is the FCW President’s Choice Award – all counties are encouraged to bring an item to be auctioned off at the Silent Auction.  When you drop off your item, make sure that you tell Mrs. Emily that the item is a County CattleWomen item to be included in the group eligible for this award!  Counties are also encouraged to send some door prizes for the Membership Breakfast – our goal is that everyone leave with something from the breakfast.

In mid- April, the University of Florida held its Annual Animal Sciences Scholarship Reception and Award Recognition program.  At this event, the receipient of the FCW Jan Dillard Scholarship was announced and we were excited to recognize Caroline Nichols for her scholarly efforts.  Information regarding all of our scholarships is available on our website.

FCW Members attend ANCW Region II Meeting: Left to right, Michelle Grimmer (FCW President), Ashley Hughes, Debbie Gill (FCW Treasurer), Reba Mazak (FCW Past-President), and Rhonda Waters (FCW President-Elect).

The ANCW (American National CattleWomen) Region II Meeting was held in Point Clear, Alabama in late April.  ANCW continues to make leaps and bounds to rebuild the organization and Florida CattleWomen were well represented at this event.

I would love to attend more of your county meetings, so if I have not yet been to your county, please let me know when your meetings are scheduled.  I would love to come talk with everyone regarding the opportunities available to help our organization at the state level!  Just shoot me an email at CGShowCattle@gmail.com.
