Dec. FCW Report

FCW President Michelle Grimmer

As the end of the 2017 quickly approaches, I took some time to reflect on my year serving as the President of the Florida CattleWomen. The old saying “Time flies when you’re having fun” came to mind as I thought about how quickly this past year has passed and how much fun I have had representing an industry for which I am so passionate. I have bounced all over the state, and sometimes across the country, meeting with groups, consumers and fellow advocates during the past 12 months – and had a wonderful time doing so!

I encourage anyone that has a passion for the cattle industry and promoting and educating people about the nutritious benefits of eating beef to become more involved with the FCW by volunteering at the state level. There are numerous opportunities throughout the organization to jump on board and we would love to have you!
I would like to thank the FCW Executive Board, Board of Directors and all the members for their support during my tenure as President. I also wanted to take a moment to give a big shout out to Jim Handley and the FCA staff for their continuing support of our organization – they do so much to help us throughout the year!

The new Executive Board was installed a few days ago at the FCW Quarterly meeting and Rhonda Waters now assumes leadership for our organization as she assumes her role as President of Florida CattleWomen. I look forward to seeing new things for FCW as Rhonda takes the reigns of this wonderful organization.

I do want to remind everyone of the FCW Clay Shoot scheduled for January 6th at the Quail Creek Plantation in Okeechobee. This event is the biggest fundraiser that the FCW has and the proceeds directly support the Scholarship and Outreach & Promotion programs offered by the FCW throughout the year. The event provides participants with lots of fun, door prizes, and a wonderful steak lunch! NEW THIS YEAR – Online registration is available for this event! Just visit to register for the Clay Shoot. Additional information about the shoot can be found in this magazine and on the FCW website.

IS THERE A CATTLEWOMEN WHO IS INTERESTED IN THEIR REGISTRATION BEING PAID FOR OUR ANNUAL CONVENTION NEXT YEAR? All FCW members are eligible to participate in this contest. All you have to do is solicit Hole Sign Sponsors ($100) for this event – the member who sells the most Hole Signs will have their registration for the next FCA Annual Convention paid for by FCW. Information about the shoot can be found in this magazine and on the FCA website. Please feel free to contact me at with any questions you might have.
Wishing all of you a Merry Christmas and best wishes for a prosperous and Happy New Year!
