Aug. FCW Report
Hello fellow BEEF lovers! The summer seems to be passing quickly as we head into the back-to-school season. We are going to be losing all that ‘free’ summer help from our kids and grandkids as well as the luxury of sharing our love of the land and God’s creatures. Soon they will be sitting in their classrooms while we wish we had just one more rider to cover that hole while we ride out cow/calf pairs!
Fall is coming quickly and we have events almost every month to participate in. At the end of July and the first of August Kim Cravey and I will be attending the NCBA/ ANCW Summer Conference in Denver, CO. It is always stimulating to attend these events and hear what great news we have been blessed with lately in the BEEF Industry. I’m really looking forward to hearing about what is going on across the nation in regards to BEEF.
September Quarterly is also fast approaching. Reyna has lined up an exciting and much needed shortcourse for us on how to speak to people about BEEF and our way of life without unintentionally mentioning something that could be a hot button for the public. We’ll be having our Board of Director’s meeting on Thursday morning and the Beef Shortcourse in the afternoon. Also, don’t forget the Steak Out! There’s nothing like a well-cooked steak to finish off the day!
In October we are partnering with ANCW for the Southern Women’s Show in Orlando and I am so excited! Imagine ladies, a booth that is 20ft. x 30ft. with recipe samples; laptops with BEEF games; ladies talking to consumers about the benefits of beef, and on-the-spot taping of videos with real attendees giving their reasons for loving beef. Those videos are uploaded to uTube for anyone to view if they just search for BEEF on the subject line. People love to be recorded and made semi-famous by being on the internet, and we always have a long line of samplers ready and willing to tell the world why BEEF is great!
November will be full of family events for each of us, and maybe even a 5K run. We are looking at sponsoring various 5K events throughout the state and will be discussing it at the quarterly meeting in Okeechobee in September. Please try to attend so that you are up to date on all of the opportunities you have around the state to share our story about BEEF!
I have a beautiful grand-daughter now and am enjoying the last days of summer as my break from teaching reaches its end. It is so nice to have some time to relax and regenerate, although I’m always aware of the things that ‘have to get done’. I am lucky in that all of the items on my to-do list are things that I enjoy. Besides, how could I be grumpy with a new baby to spoil! See you in Okeechobee!
