Apr. FCW Report

Screen Shot 2016-04-01 at 1.33.18 PMOn February 6, and what felt like the coldest day of the month, I participated with friends on Team-“Let’s Get Dirty”, fueled by Beef, at the Warrior Dash, a 5k obstacle race in Clermont. We had a great time and all the participants that we passed saw that our team was BEEFfit.

The Cattlewomen stayed busy in the booth in the Agriculture Hall of Fame/Fresh from Florida building. FCW members interacted with 2,750 consumers; served 2,491 beef samples; passed out 1,025 pamphlets/brochures, 912 promotional items, 173 magazines, and 1,020 recipe cards over the 10 day period. Members from Gator Collegiate, Hillsborough, Lake, Pasco, and Polk Counties volunteered during this time passing out samples of beef and engaging visitors in conversation during their fair visit on beef nutrition and quick and easy beef recipes. Thank you to those county associations that worked the booth!

Please remember to sign up to read during the 2016 Florida Agriculture in the Classroom Agriculture Literacy Day on Tuesday, April 26. This years book titled “Drive through Florida: Vegetables” is available at www.faitc.org. The FCW have in its inventory copies of the Pasture to Plate Book, “It’s All About That Beef” by Rianna and Sheridan Chaney to use for special Ag day events and school visits. If you’d like a copy to read at a school, please contact me.
